Can materialistic things inspire profound realizations?

The ability to get to know myself more over the years is powerful and
I’m grateful.

I’ve written many times about the idea that ”It’s the little things in life.”

Still, I’m realizing it in even more profound ways. I wish to grow in this knowledge even more over the years.

Today, I have a clothing haul from H&M.
Yes, it’s clothes.
Yes, it’s materialistic.

And yet these clothes have inspired such a joy in my life. I’ve learned more about myself.
Somethings I’ve known and some I’ve realized.

Like the fact that I feel incredibly good around natural things such as trees, nature, stones, crystals, etc.

If you have been following me for a while, you might know that I’m often surrounded by nature. I may not live in nature, but I insert myself into nature at least 4 times a week.

I should’ve known earlier, and yet it took buying these clothes, coming home and reflecting on my purchase to realize it.

It all started with me, coming home, just staring at the clothes. Looking at the clothes felt great, dressing in the clothes felt incredibly good. What was this feeling?

Well…
As I reflect on my purchase, I admit the colors were a bit odd.
I would not normally choose brown and beige colors, but the fabric felt so good in my hands (especially the blazer) and the brown bag reminded me of earth;dirt.
Why would I want to wear that? And why is it making me feel so good?

I’ve come to the conclusion that my love for natural colors has transitioned into my wardrobe. And I couldn’t be happier.

Can materialistic things inspire profound realizations?

You tell me,

Here’s what I got at H&M.

WE ARE PREGNANT! (and what I’m wearing)

Some of you have guessed, others had no clue, September 2019 our baby is due!

It’s not a food baby this time! We are very excited about this news! We’ve known it for a while, but the first three months was spent hugging the toilet. With the second trimester came my energy, thus, voila the announcement  & collaboration with Paperlesspost.com! (More about that at the end of the post)

LRM_EXPORT_28579906428918_20190430_071637152.jpg

With the second trimester comes body changes, and I have the whole swollen boobs and baby bump yumminess going on. So with that, I ventured to find my first pregnancy dress.

I was quite picky, because of the shape of my body;

My body type: Inverted triangle
I have an inverted triangle body shape. Which means my upper body is proportionally bigger than my lower body. I have big boobs, broad shoulders, and slim legs.

Now that I’m pregnant everything becomes bigger, and thus the type of dress I’m wearing above, the bodycon dress, won’t do anymore.

  • My list:
I wanted a dress that ticked all these boxes:
    * Fit fitted around my bust but loose around my waist
    * Had sleeves
    * Had a v-neck
    * Is comfortable and breathable fabric for Spring/ Summer

My search began about two months ago. Yesterday I found the perfect dress at Zara!

I absolutely love this dress! I went for neutral colours since Spring/ Summer is here.

I paired the white dress with over-the-knee boots because it’s still quite cold.

It took a journey to find a dress that ticked all the boxes.

P1270346

It ties in the front, with plenty of space for our baby

P1270347

Pockets are always handy

P1270348

The sleeves are what sold me on this dress

The fabric is a blend of linen and cotton.

A big thank you to my lovingly, patient husband for taking these pictures 😀
I love you so much ❤

What do you think?

Casual spring #ootd

Just casually deciding to go for a walk at 22:00 at night because the sun is still out here in The Netherlands.

20180525_213618_1527278730453

I’ve been here almost 3 years and I’m still not use to the light late nights. I’m so grateful 😍

The husband said ‘Lets go for a walk’

I was a bit tired but happy we went. Along the way there was a house, that’s hosting a party and the music played loud.

IMG_20180525_225623_431

It gave the oppertunity for the hubby and myself to dance like no one is watching (no one was) in the middle of a pathway surrounded by wild flowers🍀

Clothing details:

A light fabric blazer is a staple in my wardrobe for spring because it elevates any outfit by just putting it on. It also serves as warmth for the late night breeze. I bought this 2 years ago and can’t link it because it’s sold out.

The dress I made myself. I find a shift dress to fit my body the best. I’m a UK size 12.

The shoes are from e5p.

🍀

I hope you had a lovely day!

Instagram model pants #ootd #haul

Do fashion gods exist? Cause someone is helping me out.

I saw these pants on Instagram.

20180507_222023Screenshot_20180426-141556

How lovely is it? I thought to myself ‘this must be really expensive/ hard to get’.

I took a screenshot (like I do with so many outfits) and looked at it many times a day. I knew in my heart I was not going to get it since I’m in South Africa. But still, it was nice to look at.

Three days later, I walk past a store, I turned my head and there it was- the exact same dusty pink pants.

I was in complete shock. I went into the store, straight to the pants.
Was it my size? Yes.
Was it my prize? …YES
It was $16,75

And that’s how you come to see me wear these ‘Instagram model pants’

Screenshot_20180505-103727

It’s supposed to be winter in South Africa. I’m still here for a month and a few days. A coat would be nice, but what color? As usual, I saw a Burgundy coat on Pinterest, that I fell in love with.
I took a screenshot, kept staring at it on my phone.

And sure enough, at the same store, I saw the exact coat. They had my size and it was $23,92

Here is how it looks:

Screenshot_20180430-131752Screenshot_20180505-190322

MY REVIEW: Since the clothes are cheaper, of course, it is not made out of the same quality fabric that I saw some models on Instagram are wearing.

However, the quality of the pants and the coat are very good.

The pants are made out of 65% cotton and 35%polyester.
The brand is: Mirasol style

The coat is made out of faux suede.
The brand name: New feeling

I bought these clothes a store called ‘Gaap’. They do not have an online store.

However, I went online to search for it.

-If you are South African, click here for the pants. R280 I’ve bought at Poshclothing before and it’s quality stuff.

-UK, click here From Missguided 45pounds

-US, ( I couldn’t find any for the US, perhaps if you find a pair, let me know so I can update the post)

Beginner bloggers: 2 ways to make money

In the past week, some of you have asked me about mainly two things: What my thoughts were on Affiliate links (can you make real money with it) and what my thoughts were on Ko-fi (a link where your readers can buy you a ‘coffee’/donate $3.)

In this post I will tell you of 2 ways I know makes real money.

Back in 2014 and 2015, I use to add affiliate links to my blog.

After that year, I stopped with most affiliate links because I did not see growth. If something doesn’t work after a considerable amount of time, and I’ve done my best, I simply move on to the next.

Now in 2017 I only do affiliate links that work for me and might work for you too, because there is logic in the method.

Tips on selecting affiliate links:
1. Go the website that you shop at the most, most companies have affiliate programs on their website. Sign up.

Why use a store that you shop at? Because if you are the average person, you don’t buy overly expensive things on a daily basis.

Most affiliate links that people put up, is overly expensive and so people don’t click on the link because they can’t afford it.
And if they do go to the website, mostly they don’t buy anything which influences your sales.

2. If you are thinking about selling a specific item, choose items that cost less then what people pay for currently in other stores.

Example: I found a company that sells human hair for extremely cheap. First, I bought the hair to see if it’s good quality. Once I saw it was, I contacted the company, told them I have a blog and would like to advertise their hair on my blog with an affiliate link.

I had the hair on my blog for a while but took it off once my blog content changed more to fashion rather than beauty.

(I’m getting back into beauty soon, so I might contact a few companies again.)

3. What’s your demographics? Which country visits your blog the most? Check your stats. Once you know, you can choose affiliate links catering specifically to those people. Get affiliate links from stores in those countries.

4. What do you post about? Fashion? Parenthood? Writing? It’s important to know this because the people who follow you are attracted to that topic. Choose an affiliate link that sells something related to that topic.

If you blog about being vegan, but your affiliate links are for meat products, you won’t make any sales.

Some readers asked about Ko-Fi
Let me first explain what Ko-Fi is.

It’s a platform where creators can set up a free account and link back to their website for readers to buy you a ‘coffee’.

It’s not an actual coffee but rather a donation of $3 (the average price of a coffee ) or more (if they want to give more) In this way, your readers can support you.

How do they pay and how do you receive it?
They choose an option to pay via their bank card or PayPal and you put your bank details or PayPal into your account.

Ko-Fi will let you know when you’ve received the money and it will be available to you immediately. No threshold.

I set up my Ko-Fi account last week and have received some caffeine from some of you, THANK YOU. It’s an incredible feeling to receive a notification that someone actually clicked on the button, and decided to support my blog in that way.

Questions to the readers:
Do you use affiliate links? What’s the most difficult part for you when you think about affiliate links?
